Africa is renowned for its cultural richness, with thousands of tribes shaping its identity across 54 nations. While every country has its share of ethnic diversity, some stand out for hosting an extraordinary number of tribes.

1. Nigeria – The most culturally diverse country in Africa, Nigeria is home to over 370 tribes. The Hausa-Fulani, Yoruba, and Igbo dominate, alongside minority groups such as Tiv, Efik, Kanuri, and Ijaw. Its diversity is reflected in more than 500 languages, traditional festivals, and vibrant cultural heritage.

2. Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) – With over 250 tribes, including the Luba, Mongo, and Kongo, the DRC is another hub of ethnic variety. Its vast geography has helped preserve countless languages and traditions.

4. Chad – Chad hosts over 200 tribes, among them the Sara, Arabs, and Toubou. Its mix of sub-Saharan and North African cultures highlights influences from Islam, Christianity, and indigenous beliefs.

5. Sudan – Home to about 200 tribes, Sudan blends African and Arab heritage. The Fur, Beja, Dinka, Nuba, and Shilluk stand out, with more than 100 languages spoken across the country.
